Under engine for 6hrs for the first time in four days but our diesel is
low and we have to go back to sailing even though the wind is astern and
only 4 to 10kns. This is also the fourth day without autopilot and 24hrs
a day we must hand steer. Everyone is now used to spending up to 6hrs a
day at the helm. Goosewinged and poled out the genny give us an average
speed of 5kns with 130m to go. The bonus of a slow speed is that our fishing
has for the first time been successful, apart from the squid and flying
fish voluntarily landing on our decks. The first caught was bright yellow
in colour with a dark blue fin, possibly a dolphin fish? Then two good sized
tuna. We are looking forward to having them for lunch tomorrow. It has been
a stunning day and more relaxed after yesterdays events.

Today
we arrived into Santa Cruz, Tenerife. It is very hot and humid and town
is surprisingly quiet. We had a most delicious lunch of tuna and dolphin
fish, expertly prepared by the catcher. This coming week will be spent preparing
the boat for the next leg and onward journey.
